  1. If you had a Denial of Access to your Premises then…

    1. Do you have a plan for how to survive a Flood, Fire, Theft, Storm etc?

    2. Do you know how you would cope with a denial of access to your business premises?

    3. Do you have alternative business premises that you can access if required?

    4. In the case of extended power failure, could you still run your critical functions?

    5. Are you up to date with all Health & Safety and Fire regulations to avoid being excluded from your premises through non-compliance?

    6. Have you explored whether a neighbouring business activity could represent a threat to you accessing your premises?

    7. Assuming that you have Business Interruption Insurance, could you survive financially if your claim was still not settled after six to twelve months?

  2. If you had an IT/Telecoms failure then…

    1. Do you have the means to divert your telephone lines to individual numbers? (This is normally only achievable with a hosted telephony system, an ISDN line can generally only be diverted to one single line!)

    2. Could you access telephone numbers and then contact staff, customers and suppliers?

    3. Do you have the means with which to carry on invoicing/collecting payments and banking etc?

    4. Do you back-up your IT systems at least once a week?

    5. Have you tried installing your back up onto a completely new computer?

    6. Could you replace your entire core IT systems within 24 hours?

    1. Do you have a plan to enable you to replace equipment quickly?

    2. Is your equipment subject to short supply?

    3. Do you have a contingency so that in a crisis situation you have joint use of equipment with another similar business in your industry?

    1. Whether your key customers are resilient to potential disasters?

    2. If your suppliers will still be able to fulfill your orders if they have a crisis, are they resilient to a disaster?

    3. If there is an alternative source of supply for key products?

    1. Check that vehicles used at work are roadworthy and that they have valid MOT certification?

    2. Check that employees have a valid Driver's License and suitable insurance covering business use?

    3. Take independent advice to make sure that all your employment contracts and terms remain up to date?

    5. Have policies in place on the use of the Internet, emails and IT equipment?

    6. Check that all staff and contractors are familiar and have acknowledged safety requirements whilst at work?

    1. Do you have a Business Continuity Plan that is relevant to your business and that has been reviewed in the past year?

    2. If Yes, does your Business continuity plan conform to British Standard BS25999?

    3. Do you have a Disaster Recovery Plan and has it been tested?
